It sucks but ultimately what Mormonism does to people is it makes them value adherence to church more than their relationships with people. It requires a special kind of patience, and I think that the phrase "absence makes the heart grow fonder" has to be something you can relate to. This means first being clear that you want to go on a date.
She probably has not studied the real truths behind Mormonism and thinks her beliefs are the only way to become a God while living eternally with family in the life hereafter. Many, many lapsed Mormons catch the true vision of the gospel at some time in their lives and desire to repent and become observant again. I appreciate knowing all you have mentioned since it gives me a bit of insight and some real good tips. There will be sacrifices but I am hopeful.
It's a foolish dream I suppose. Best wishes on your next expedition. Mormon's view marriages outside the temple to be counterfeit and you can't get into the temple without converting to the religion. Females are not expected to serve and MOST of the girls that do, only do so because they do not have a suitable read: If your GF is an attractive girl and still ended up on a mission then she is about as fanatical as they come and if she isn't already she will be slowly trying to convert you. Because people who have problems with interfaith families must needs shortly become a thing of the past. I was thinking the same thing when I read this. There are two ways to go about this. She will not marry you until you convert to mormonism whole cloth. To her, if you don't marry in the temple, she will probably do it after you die anyway. I just wanted to tell you that I am grateful for your words!.
If you are dating a Mormon girl, then always wear a good shirt, jeans or pants, and avoid T-shirts with offensive wording or graphics. Fortunately most of my immediate family has done better. My dream in life as cliche as it sounds is to be happy, and to raise a family - be one of those home mums who goes to school meetings, and award nights, and bakes cakes for their kids school fares. With minimal support on my side and going against everything I had grown up learning, I had to trust my relationship with God.
